Indiana was a unique place in that I was able to capture some beautiful scenery this month. Sophia should showed me the beauties of the lake and how the sunset can create an ocean like effect at the lake. There was just so much to this location and I wanted to describe it as a photographer and a landscape artist as well. Sophia, who is a amateur model, let me photograph her all around the area and let me fly out from Las Vegas to get some amazing locations. Our first area I was able to capture was the famous and well known to locals is the Indiana Sand dunes.
These photos had unique colors and amazing purples and oranges I was able to capture that day. It was the middle of the week so there we less people that were there so there wasn’t of poeple that day so I can capture the clouds. According to some friends there was a storm recently so the clouds perfectly showed as I continued to photograph, I fell in love with the Lake Sunset that really made Sophias photos even better. This one was one of her favorite photos below.
As we continued to explore more, Sophia is pretty funny and she was more entertained on how the photos would look like. Her mother, coming along with us having fun as I continued to looks for shoots around the area. Im sure they have seen this area millions of times, but to me it was a brand new location with a different vibe than most areas I’ve been around the world. It is surrounded by many smalls town so its a much simpler slower life out there than Las Vegas which is where I am from.
The 2nd Night
As the sun continued set we were able to capture some great here as well. Time was ticking and we didn’t have a lot of time to keep going. Sophia planned a long hike into the forest part of the Dunes in Indiana. She told me it would be a short hike and I thought it would be fun. To top it off she was alot faster than me because I had about 100 pounds of gear on me, so I was pushing myself to keep running. I was determined not to miss the sunset.
Exhausted I I kept running to the location to make sure we get to the beach. We kept sprinting, Sophia took off her shoes to be more mobile and I kept jogging cause the sun was going out fast. In Photography is especially in Landscapes golden hour is one of the most important shots when your shooting pretty much anything and if you miss it, you miss the colors and a small moment to take your shot. After a long hard running and hiking I was able to catch it just in time for Sophia on the shore.
Sophia as we traveled together, she actually had a nick name for her old Van. I got admit even though it was really ugly in kind of grew on me. The smell too grows on your too, since we were always laugning and enjoying ourselves. I honestly don’t think it wouldn’t have been the same with Bessy. She got us where we needed to get and was definitely reliable. Honestly I would rise it again to get our shots. These small town folk really do know how to show a date like myself a good time.
